Julie O'yang (1968) is an acclaimed novelist, visual artist and screenwriter based in The Netherlands. Born and brought up in China, O'yang came to Europe in the 1990s to study at the University of London. Then she read Japanese Language and Culture at the University of Leiden, Holland, and Tokyo, Japan.

Her writings have featured in internationally renowned publications worldwide.

As a screenwriter, O'yang has participated in various European projects for television and film, from documentaries to long features films to historical fiction drama series, fulfilling the tasks of story consultant, history consultant, writer, and co-writer.

Currently, Julie is working on a short film and a long feature. The former is based on one of her noted short stories and the latter is based on her most recent novel Butterfly.
